I have never felt the need to believe in a higher entity. The world, with all its beauty and complexity, seems to me explainable through science and reason. I do not find comfort in prayers or rituals, but rather in the observation of nature, in art, music and human connections. The idea of a god who judges and punishes seems incompatible with the love and compassion that I believe are fundamental to a meaningful life. I prefer to focus on the present, on helping others and on leaving a positive mark on the world, rather than worrying about a hypothetical afterlife. It allows me to appreciate life in all its fragility and preciousness, without the need for supernatural explanations. I believe that everyone has the right to choose their own spiritual path, and for me that path is atheism. And how much I hate this Christian god you can see from this video. I enter this sacred place, take a holy card and then go to the bar to piss on it. You like it, right?
